I could have chosen a less confusing example of our current state of lying, injustice, back-stabbing, and dog-eat-dog mentality. Or, at least clarified that I was not referring to "masking" which has been called "survival hypocrisy." Necessary. Not a choice that one wishes to make, but is forced to make by the injustice and the hypocrisy of others.
I feel that the term "survival hypocrisy" puts a negative spin on masking. To me, masking is not hypocrisy, it is "survival conformity" to be understood and respected.
In the context of this post, I was wishing for a world were more people lived by the golden rule instead of saying they do, but *not* walking the talk. Take care, Ron
no it wouldn't be nice because what you call hypocrisy is how people survive their childhood in hostile environments
it would be very nice if people didn't have to disconnect from themselves in order to preserve whatever they can of their emotional health
